Racist insult case against Vinicius Jr reopened

The case against a person under investigation for making racist insults against Vinicius Junior during a La Liga match between Betis and Real Madrid has been reopened by order of the Provincial Court of Seville. The process will remain open to verify whether the facts constitute a crime and whether the person under investigation participated in them.

The Provincial Court of Seville has ordered the reopening of the case against a man under investigation for uttering racist insults against Vinicius Junior during the La Liga match played on 5 March 2023 at the Benito Villamarin between Real Betis and Real Madrid.
In an order issued on 14 October, notified to the parties on Wednesday, the court upheld the appeal lodged by LaLiga's public prosecution against the order of 17 June 2024, by which the examining magistrate's court agreed to provisionally dismiss the proceedings.
In this regard, the Public Prosecutor's Office requested that the appeal be upheld and requested that the examining magistrate examine the defendant.
On 7 September 2023, the complaint against the person under investigation for an alleged hate crime under article 510 of the Criminal Code was considered to have been filed and a judicial statement was taken from him and other incriminating witnesses, while the footballer was also summoned.
