Spain beat Croatia 3-0 on their Euro 2024 debut and their victory has helped to boost the confidence of the fans who once again believe in 'La Roja'. Joselu did not take part in that debut as Alvaro Morata started and Mikel Oyarzabal was his replacement. But the striker assures in his interview to 'AS' that he knows that his time will come.
Joselu also spoke about the lack of confidence in the team: "Maybe people didn't see us as favourites, but for us it's even better. We're going in cautiously. We've already seen France and England.
"The competition is very tough, the rivals are tight. Confidence comes from day to day. When you live with these people for so many days, you realise what you can achieve.
"I consider myself an important player. It's clear that all 26 of us are going to have our moment, I was talking to De la Fuente the other day. I know that my moment will come and you have to be prepared to make the most of it. All 26 of us are privileged," he said.
Asked whether his brother-in-law Dani Carvajal could be a clear candidate for the Ballon d'Or if Spain win the European Championship, Joselu is clear: "I've been saying it for ten days. People don't value everything he does. He is the best right-back in history."
About his future, which is still unresolved, Joselu still doesn't know what will happen: "I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have a clause until the 30th for Madrid to make a decision.
"It's not that I have doubts, it's that it doesn't only depend on me. Madrid have signed two strikers and will be planning their season in this way. I hope that soon it can be resolved."
