The first half ended in a goalless draw. Pedri was forced off with injury and was replaced by Dani Olmo in the first minutes of the match. The Barcelona player seems to be suffering from a sprained knee and could miss the rest of the European Championship. Olmo broke the deadlock in the 51st minute but Florian Wirtz found an equaliser to send the match into extra time. Mikel Merino, who plays for Real Sociedad, scored the winner for Spain in the 119th minute, which takes them into the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
