Brahim Diaz's decision to play for Morocco instead of Spain has caught the Spanish Federation off guard. Luis de la Fuente had hoped to call him up for the list he will give on Friday, but the Real Madrid player has decided to play for the African national team after not receiving a call from the coach of 'la Roja'.
It has been a hard blow for the RFEF, but this decision is not new. In fact, Spain has also 'signed' a player of the future. It is Dean Huijsen, a Dutch centre-back from Juventus who grew up in Spain.
Last February, Huijsen received the news that he had been granted Spanish nationality after being approved by the Council of Ministers. 'Marca' claims that the RFEF will call him up for the U21s on Friday.
In this way, Spain will be able to count on a centre-back with a great future - he will be called up by the U21s at the age of 18 - and join the list of 'signings' of players to play in the national teams.
Huijsen was born in the Netherlands and has even played at youth level for that country. Also of Dutch parents, he arrived in Marbella at the age of five and played in the youth teams of Malaga until Juventus signed him.
Now, on loan at Roma and playing in the first team, he will receive the call from Spain on Friday to play in the U21 and look to the future with 'La Roja' and, who knows, be in the Paris Olympics in 2024.
