Manchester City were unable to find a tactical solution to Arsenal's low block and were held to a goalless draw by the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium, something that suited neither side but Liverpool.
The Reds managed to pull off a great comeback to claim a 2-1 win over Brighton to claim top spot in the domestic standings, two points clear of the second-placed Gunners and three ahead of the Sky Blues.
Cityzens manager Pep Guardiola said after the draw against the north London side that the title race was "not in their hands" and that Jurgen Klopp's side were favourites to be crowned champions, although "there are still nine games" to play and the Mancunians are not giving up hope.
