Atletico still have Baena on their radar for 2025/26 term

Six months ago, Alex Baena's name began to be heard on the Metropolitano board. The sporting press reported that Atletico Madrid were targeting the midfielder to rejuvenate their midfield.
According to Mundo Deportivo, half a year on, the Spanish side's desire has not changed. The Villarreal star, whose contract expires on 30 June 2028, remains a target, but not for January but for next campaign.
The player is keen to join Simeone's squad and is aware that scouts have been preparing reports on his development since he was in Villarreal's academy.
In anticipation of interest from Atletico Madrid and some Premier League clubs, Villarreal renewed him in January 2023.
