Ronald Araujo is already registered in La Liga. Barcelona's new lever is bearing fruit. As a result, Xavi Hernandez will be able to count on the Uruguayan centre-back for Sunday's match against Getafe.
The Catalan side have sold nearly a third of shares in the club's digital platform Barca Vision for 120 million euros ($131.9m), the Spanish champions announced on Friday in a move which should ease the recruitment of new players.
German-based LIBERO football finance AG and private investors, advised by Dutch company NIPA Capital B.V. have become new partners in Bridgeburg Invest, the holding company of Barca Vision.
Joan Laporta's side have given high priority to Araujo's registration as the 24-year-old will be one of the new captains for the 2023/24 campaign. Along with Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia form part of the Catalan giants' defence.
The Uruguay international has been included in the 13-man roster of players registered in La Liga: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Pedri Gonzalez, Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele.
Barcelona are optimistic Ilkay Gundogan will make his La Liga debut on Sunday. The confirmed sale of Franck Kessie and the possible transfer of Dembele are key to the German's registration.
