Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez remarked that his teammate Lamine Yamal, despite being only 17 years old, "has a good head and knows what he wants", although he acknowledged that "we have to help him because in the world of football, it is easy to get off track".
"We all know the potential he has, we have to go little by little with him. We have to help him because, in the world of football, it's easy to get sidetracked. He's a boy with a good head and knows what he wants, so I have full confidence in him," he said in an interview with the magazine ‘Club del Deportista’.
The centre-back acknowledged that last year "wasn't easy at all" and that the arrival of German coach Hansi Flick in the dressing room has been "an injection of energy", while confessing that he is in "one of the best moments of his career".
"Last year was not easy at all, but this year I am enjoying it to the full. I'm in one of my best moments. When you feel the confidence of the coach and your team-mates, everything flows better," added the Cule centre-back.
About this season, Martinez underlined that they hope to win a title. "We're showing that we're doing very well and we're proving that we know how to compete against any opponent. Against Madrid, the minute you relax, you pay for it," he said.
With Inigo on the pitch, Barcelona have won 22 consecutive league games, a competition in which, after nine games, they lead by three points over Real Madrid and seven ahead of Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.
